We’re into a busy week as we speak, with two horses racing at Addington tonight and three more at the Waimate meeting at Oamaru Sunday.
Reiniminpatron returns to Addington today and is better for his resuming run a week ago. Unfortunately he has a horror second-row draw to contend with and will need some luck in the running. John as we know him runs in Race 5 for junior drivers. Korbyn Newman does the steering.
Earlier in the evening Art Major 4yo Spy Master makes his debut in Race 3. Spy Master has had four trials to prepare. In his most recent at Methven on 7 March he did everything right in the chasing pack behind Jimmy Arma and Scotlynn Beach Boy, both winners since. If he gets a good run through from the inside of the second row Spy Master may feature in a race with little exposed form. Gavin Smith drives.
On to Oamaru Sunday and the Waimate meeting, where we have three runners: Majestic Action, Kusanova and Fun In The Dark. First up Fun in The Dark gets a chance to atone in Race 5 after a fruitless trip to the West Coast. She needs to bring her best manners and will find it tough from unruly at the mobile. Has the services of Ricky May again.
Majestic Action (pictured) will be better suited by the grass track and the 2000 metres of Race 10. She’s drawn the outside on 10 metres (unruly), so will be back at the start. Molly has the ability to overcome that and return to form. Matthew Williamson stays with the ship.
Yesterday we took two of our young colts to the Rangiora trials. The Art Major – Alta Camilla 2yo Warhol went well enough to suggest he’s close to racing, probably after one more trial. It’s still early days for Ron McKinlay, a 3yo by Bettor’s Delight from Mach’s Excuse, who was trialling well before getting a fright and breaking late.
Youngster Back Seat Lover (Somebeachsomewhere – Kiss Your Assets) has returned to the training track after a short let-up. Looking ahead we hope to see him joining Warhol for two-year-old racing over coming months.
Best of luck to all our owners and everyone following the team.
